Under Data Protection legislation the church Charity Trustees of Basingstoke Baptist Church are the Data Controller and can be contacted by ringing 01256 324297 or emailing dataprotectionquery@basingstokebaptist.org.uk .
We are collecting this information to enable the church to keep in touch with you, keep you informed of things happening in the life of the church and provide pastoral support as appropriate.
Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.
Your name and other personal/contact details will be entered into our church database which is largely held on a secure cloud based system called ChurchSuite. This database is password protected and encrypted and the main database will only be accessed by the Minister, Church Secretary and Church Life Pastor. From time to time, others may be granted access for training purposes and for specific reasons pertinent to an individuals role within the Church. Information in regards to members and attendees may also be held on local computers operated by key church personnel, which will be password protected and also in paper format which will be stored in lockable units. Your contact details will be removed from the database once you are no longer an attendee of the church – unless you ask to remain as one of our “church friends”.
To enable us to provide adequate pastoral support to you and your family, the Minister and other personnel may record information which may be regarded as sensitive. This sensitive information will be stored (in a password protected format) on the church database, but the password will only be known by the relevant person. Other information not deemed as sensitive may also be seen by other key personnel within the church (e.g. the Secretary, Church Life Pastor or Diaconate). This information will NOT be disclosed to anyone else without your consent.
You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you (including the pastoral support information) by submitting a “Subject Access Request’ to the Church Secretary. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified.
If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled please speak to our Data Protection Trustee, Matthew Wise. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office.
